Snow Pictures - Finally!

Well, now that it is 60 degress, I decided to share my snow pictures, for those who read this but don't have Facebook, or in my mother's case, who have Facebook and don't check it. ever. (I know she's going to read this - that's why I said that. Love you Mom!)

We have since had a BEAUTIFUL weekend in which my children were locked out not allowed to sit and watch TV. It has induced a serious case of Spring Fever. We have only 17 days til Spring Break. That is only 16 more days of waking my children only to hear crying and begging me not to send them to school.

Without further ramblings, here goes...

There was snow angel making

Snow babies trudging through the snow

A snow princess who preferred building snowmen to getting pelted by her brother with snowballs

The snowball monster. He. does. not. have. an. off. button.

My hottie hubby in the snow.

"Indiana" Snowman

Almost 6 inches of snow - the most since we had a white Christmas in 1989.

Dad's Pond - my favorite shot of all the scenic ones. I didn't even take in black and white and this is how it turned out. That fascinated me.

I was also fascinated that I took this picture at the same time as the pond, but because of the sunlight, got a totally different shot from the same spot.

Dad's front yard aka next year's Christmas card.

Birthday par-tay! Times two

We had a weekend of partying around here and the title of this blog doesn't really do it justice. We had Hannah's party on Saturday for her friends. She wanted to play the Wii, dance (the limbo, among other things),

and decorate their own cakes.

The cakes were really cute. Here's Hannah's "10" cake.

And there was, of course, presents. Hannah got some neat stuff and she's really enjoyed them.

That afternoon Allie had a birthday party for a friend of hers, so we joined about 8 rambunctious four year olds for that. No pictures of that because I was just along for the ride on that one.

Sunday we had family over for birthday celebrations. Aside from Hannah, my mother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law have a birthday the same week, so we had a shin-dig. Here, Hannah and MaMaw share blowing out the candles.

And then opened more presents. Here she shares the spotlight with her aunt Kathy whose birthday she was supposed to share. However, she took a little longer to get here and therefore was born the next day on her aunt Laura's day.

We shooed everyone out the door in time to go to our small group Super Bowl party and called it a night around 10. Thankfully the kids have a short week at school.

February is not my friend

For MANY years, I have had a deep dislike of February. It is the longest shortest month of the year. When I was a kid, it seemed to last forever, and I would find myself living for March. The only exceptions I can remember is college, when classes didn't start back til February so the newness of the semester made it fly by and the year Hannah was born because that's when time started FLYING. As a teacher, it was the month when all my sweetest kids turned sour and my brightest students existed in a fog. It is also usually the month when the New Year's Resolution wears off and I realize, once again, that I'm a diet flunkie. OK, I lied. That happens the second week of January, but I am usually able to keep my house clean and my life organized until February. I have tried not to carry this dislike over into my family and now my children, but it doesn't seem to be working. February is that month when the cold overwhelms me, because I am tired of not being able to get out and tired of not being able to send my kids out. It is the month of the drama in the morning, of prying my children out of bed and the "I-don't-want-to-go-to-school" begging starts. This even happens with my oldest, who loves school. The next part I have really debated on putting in here and I type with trembling fingers. It is the anniversary of the stomach virus that I will likely never forget, so I always get a little freaked out that it may come again, just to add to the joys of February. So I am a February hater. I wonder if they have a support group for those of us who cannot take another minute of the weather and are living for Spring.

Allie and Wii Yoga

The Wii: "Try to keep your center of balance in the yellow circle."
Allie: "I can't do the yellow circle."

The Wii: "Don't push yourself. Do only what you feel comfortable doing."
Allie: "I'm alweady uncomfo'table."
